The Crazy Shopping Cart is a blog that is co-owned by myself and my wife Tiffany. It originally began as a hobby after Tiffany had their second child. She was a couponer who wanted to share the deals she found with other people who wanted to learn how to coupon.
The blog and its accompanying Facebook group grew much larger than we ever thought that it would. It began making several hundred dollars per month after only being around for six months.
Due to the ever-changing nature of Facebook and other social media platforms (where the majority of our audience comes from), we began to branch out into online deals for Amazon and large national retailers.
We also have a few posts that do okay on Pinterest, but our audience seems to prefer deals and coupons more than evergreen posts. Because we try to give our readers what they want, we've had a successful 2 1/2 years of being primarily a coupon/deals blog.
The decision to sell our blog was a hard one to make, especially since it has been a labor of love for over two years. However, we have had numerous large life changes over the last few months that have severely cut into our deal-finding time.
Tiffany began to homeschool our children (instead of being able to spend the day looking for deals). We are almost finished with the licensing process to become a foster home, which has been a dream of ours for a while (several of Tiffany's siblings were adopted out of foster care).
We also began a second blog that is in the Christian/homeschool lifestyle niche. In addition, I (Phillip) am a full-time engineer at a manufacturing company.
We simply do not have enough hours in the day to give our readers the same level of deals and savings that the blog was originally intended for.
Every week, we post coupon matchups for the weekly ads of Target, Walmart, Rite Aid, Walgreens, CVS, Dollar General, Dollar Tree, and Kroger.
Each day, we write posts with sales and deals for online retailers such as Target, Kohl's, Walmart, Macy's, JC Penney, etc.
Each day, we also find Amazon deals and post those directly into our Facebook group (with about 15,000 members).
The Crazy Shopping Cart grew quickly almost by accident - we did not know what we were doing at all when we started. We have not done much with SEO or organic reach, and yet we still have had tremendous growth and income. With the right owner, this blog has unlimited earning potential!
