From the Broker

Launched in 2014, this home brewing supply company is well-diversified with 70% of sales coming from Amazon, 21% from Shopify, and 9% from wholesale orders. Kombucha has become the fastest-growing drink in the USA because it is filled with health benefits. In stores, Kombucha will cost as much as $3-5 per bottle. This company is built on the idea that people can make great Kombucha more economically and in the comfort of their homes.

In 2018, The Kombucha Shop was invited to apply for Shark Tank. After a rigorous process, the seller was invited to come on the show and pitch to the sharks. She received a deal from the sharks. Ultimately, she decided not to close on the transaction but benefitted from all the branding benefits that come with the massive national exposure.

Buyers of businesses that sell on Amazon.com are continually asking how they can protect their Amazon sales from competition. This business has a really nice moat around it because of the in house production. In order to brew Kombucha you need a living culture. The seller has a facility and several employees in Madison WI where they produce and distribute all of their products. This facility also gives them stronger control over the supply chain.

The seller has managed the business remotely for years. She spends 1/2 of each year in Austin TX and also travels frequently for the rest of the year. Her staff is fully transferrable suiting this business perfectly for a remote owner.
