From the Broker

Launched in 2016, this diversified portfolio of health focused sites generates massive revenues. They have always approached the business as being “diet agnostic”. Currently the hottest trends for healthy eating are keto, paleo, and plant based. The top sites in the portfolio currently focus around keto, autoimmune healing, and paleo. If a new healthy trend starts to come on the scene they are there producing helpful content. The products range from things like cookbooks to eating plans. 75% of the sales are transacted as digital downloads while the others are shipped.

The business has a substantial amount of organic traffic. Among the 3 most popular URLs in the trailing 12 months they had over 4,500,000 visitors and 10,000,000 pageviews. 95% of it is organic traffic. The channel driving the most revenue by far is paid. They run the campaigns in house and spend a few hundred thousand per month on ads - mostly through Facebook. Finally, they have a large database of customers (600,000) and an active email list of 200,000.

Currently the owners spend 15-30 hours per week on the business depending on the challenges for that particular week. They have a fully transferrable staff that runs 98% of the operation.

The reason for the sale is two fold. First, one of the owners has been having health issues and has a close family member have major health issues. Secondly, they are not very focused on it these days and feel it would do better with a new owner that has more energy and focus to take the business to the next level. The multiple is attractive out of an effort to draw in competitive offers and facilitate a smooth and quick closing.
